Best Golf Irons for Beginners and Seniors
Bridgestone Tour B JGR HF1
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.6]
Recommendation. For beginner or senior looking for a forgiving club set. These clubs are great if you’re struggling with mishits and chunk shots. Feel is great across the face.
Club Technology. [Bridgestone Tour B JGR HF1 Golf Irons]
- Power Slit Face Design is an indentation-like channel in the inner part of the blade which provides increased face deformation at impact, causing higher ball velocity and launch.
- Variable Face Thickness is a design tweak featuring thicker face in the sweet spot zone and thinner in surrounding area, made to provide the maximum amount of forgiveness on off center hits.
Shaft Technology.
- UST Recoil 670 Graphite is a ligthweight shaft, made for golfers seeking additional club head speed. Recoil technology offers 67% higher energy transfer efficiency when compared to the steel shafts. Energy transfer is further enhanced in the walls of the shaft where shaft creates a spring effect for increased velocity and distance. The shaft reports lower shot dispersion and more consistent trajectory.
The set has an increased offset, typical for beginners and seniors clubs. Offset means that the blade of the club is shifted back in relation to the shaft line to move the club behind the ball, thus moving center of gravity backwards to launch the ball higher and improve turf interaction, causing better impact.
The sole is very wide, causing the bottom of the club to bounce off of the turf, avoiding chunk shots.
The CG (Center of Gravity) is positioned low and deep in the thick part of the club sole, making it a great solution for players seeking to hit the ball higher and further while still maintaining a good feel. If you are struggling to lift the ball in the air, this club is your solution.

Cleveland Launcher HB
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.5]
Recommendation. Ideal for golfers with slower swings who need the ultimate forgiving, height-giving and distance-improving equipment aid.
Club Technology. [Cleveland Launcher HB Golf Irons]
- Turbocharged Face is a face made thinner and stronger for increased ball speed and greater distance.
- Hollow Construction, entirely hollow with reinforcing internal ribs for greater forgiveness.
- HiBore Crown designed to provide low and deep CG for easy-to-get higher ball flight.
- Progressive Hollow Shaping that gradually changes in size from long to short irons, thus feeding forgiveness and control.
Overview. [Youtube review] Simply engineered hollow face clubs that does not provide any technological breakthroughs, these hybrid like irons are made for settled high handicapper looking to get the most of his mid to slow swing speed. Clubs are designed to position the center of gravity low and back and thus producing high launch angle and increased ball speed. Offset is very low when compared to the classic iron set, engineered to bring the club face ahead in relation to the shaft line, thus enhancing impact, especially in rough.
Cleveland Launcher HB golf irons [review by golfalot.com] specifications:

Cleveland Launcher UHX
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.4]
Recommendation. For high handicap golfers looking for extra distance and forgiveness. Long hollow irons fly further while short cavity back irons offer precision. Handicap range: 20 to beginner.
Club Technology. [Cleveland Launcher UHX Golf Irons]
- Hollow and Cavity Back Construction which with lower and deeper positioned weight provide longer distances and forgiveness for hollow long irons and offers more control with short cavity back irons.
- Variable High Strength Steel Face insert is installed in the head for increased ball speeds and thus distance across the entire face.
- V Shaped Sole, also found with Srixon Z series, feature in both hollow and cavity back designs, improves interaction in all grass types and retains speed at impact.
- Tour Zip Grooves made by laser milling deliver maximum spin and control.
- Dynamic Golf DST 98 steel shaft is crafted for players who hit it too high with a lot of spin. This shaft brings the trajectory and spin levels down.
Notice that 4-7 irons utilize a hollow utility iron design for more forgiveness and yardage and 8-GW irons are traditional cavity back irons. The Cleveland Launcher UHX golf irons utilize a combination of innovative procedures and design tweaks. The clubs are progresivelly offseted, with longer irons providing more offset for more lagging CG and better launch and trajectory, while there is less offset with shorter irons providing for more control and better impact.

Cobra F-Max Airspeed
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.7]
Recommendation. Great choice if you’re looking for a first set of golf clubs. Irons are light, forgiving and assist with launch. Design is appealing. Price is reasonable. Handicap range: 24 to beginner.
Club Technology. [Cobra F-Max Airspeed Golf Irons]
- Lightweight Design has been a north star during development of this club. As such, it generates faster club head speed [read study] for golfers that cannot yet swing it fast. In combination with light club head, the shaft is specifically designed for this model as 5 grams lighter.
- Low Profile / Deep Undercut features cavity back design with low profile, with undercut in the back of the club head for high launch. Furthermore, the lofts are increased with this set unlike with other super game improvement irons.
- Strategic Weighting has weight positioned low and closer to the heel as an aid with slice shots. More weight in the heel will make the club naturally turn and close to the greater extent.
- Progressive Hosel Lengths is a method of making hosels shorter with longer irons and longer with shorter irons. As a result, CG is optimized for every club in the bag. With shorter hosel, longer irons have center of gravity positioned lower on the face for high launch while shorter irons, with longer hosel, have CG positioned higher in the face for more control and precision.
- Progressive Offset Design are made to create draw bias, again assisting with slice shots [offset benefits]. There is more offset with longer irons and less with shorter irons. Meaning that club lags behind the ball and has to rotate to catch up with it, thus creating biased draw effect. With shorter irons offset is decreased for more stability, control and impact.
Unlike the market standard, lofts across this set are amplified for extra high shots. Offset is progresivelly decreased moving from longer to shorter irons for better ball contact. And hosel is progressively increased moving from longer to shorter irons for optimized CG.

Cobra T-Rail
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.6]
Recommendation. Hybrid irons for extra distance, forgiveness and trajectory. Intended as an initial set or senior aiding set.
Club Technology. [Cobra T-Rail Golf Irons]
- Hollow Design makes it simple to launch the ball. The hollow body with each club makes the launch higher and ball speed faster.
- Baffler Rails are the two rails at the sole of the club made to plow through any surface. By elongated design, these two lines are where the CG is, low and stretched deep underneath the club, for increased launch, higher trajectory and low spin.
- Forged E9 Face is a forged face insert designed with a variable thickness E9 pattern for improved distance. In translation, the face is designed with larger sweet spot zone for increased distance and forgiveness.
The bafflers at the sole of the club cause high launch while effortlessly plowing through the turf. Although, even though Cobra says that no turf is an issue for this giant irons, the logic states that it may be more difficult to get out of the rough due to the oversized head. The set is designed with progressive offset. Meaning that longer clubs are more distant from the ball in relation to the shaft, thus causing higher launch and have draw bias. While the leading edge of shorter irons is almost in line with the shaft, offering better impact.

Srixon Z585
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.5]
Recommendation. Good choice for high handicappers who are looking for a simplistic forgivable designed club that has seamless feel.
Club Technology. [Srixon Z585 Golf Irons]
- Tour V.T. Sole is sole designed for better and smoother turf interaction in both fairways and deep grass. The sole is wider in longer irons for additional forgiveness.
- Speed Groove is a channel running through the internal edge of the entire face allowing for more face flexion which produces higher ball speed and increases distance
- Forged Construction from 1020 carbon steel better absorbs vibration and enhances feel at impact.
- Laser Milled face is made to produce more consistent spin from all lies, thus increasing control of the shot.
Shaft Technology.
- Nippon Modus 3 105 is a lighter steel shaft that increases club head speed for longer distance. Expected spin and trajectory are both in medium levels with this shaft.
Topline of the club is wider, characteristic with game improvement irons. Club head is designed so that more weight is positioned towards the toe for increased MOI. The sole is V shaped which is more prominent with longer and mid irons. This means that the back part of the sole (the part on the opposite side from the face) is more elevated, allowing better turf interaction.

TaylorMade SIM MAX OS
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.9]
Recommendation. For beginners, high handicaps. Reviews on the internet prove the claims made by TaylorMade. Increased ball speed, longer distance, forgiving and better feel to name a few benefits.
- Speed Bridge technology connects the lower back of the club to its topline, making a well integrated stable connection that solidifies the club. This technology produces quality sound, brings more distance and enhances speed.
- ECHO Damping Technology is a step-like implant that channels force equally through the face, eliminates vibration and causes better feel at impact.
- ICT (Inverted Cone Technology) is a design technique implemented behind each club face. Like it sounds, it is an inverted cone located in the back, for better performing and increased sweet spot which minimizes sidespin and causes straighter ball flight.
- Increased face flexibility with 8% thinner face in comparison to older predecessor M model, the club produces faster ball speeds and increased forgiveness.
- Speed Pocket technology [Youtube explainer video] is an indented line on the sole of the club which disconnects the front portion of the face from the sole, producing a free floating bottom. It generates increased ball speeds and provides forgiveness with thin shots.
Overview and Recommendations. Filled with technological advancements, these golf clubs are preferred by high handicappers. SIM MAX OS model clubs are on average 1 inch shorter than SIM MAX clubs. Even though you can expect distance increase due to tech, one inch shorter clubs – in relation to SIM MAX model – can cost you 5-10 yards. If you are a beginner, I suggest you go for SIM MAX OS model even though they are shorter. I also suggest that you take a look at SIM MAX OS Combo set (next product). If you already have golfing experience, SIM MAX clubs with all its features will still give you more distance while you will preserve those 5-10 yards with one inch longer clubs. So, go for SIM MAX OS Combo if you are absolute beginner and SIM MAX if you are golfer with experience.
Club Head Analysis. Same as with the SIM MAX golf irons, tech goes on and on, from Inverted Cone Tech (an inverted cone addition located behind the club face for balanced and spread out sweet spot that generates more distance), ECHO Damping System (a step-like plate strategically placed from toe to heal absorbs vibration for better impact), Speed Pocket [Youtube explainer video] (an indent in the sole of the club for free-floating bottom of the club face. Forgiving thin shots, increases distance with flexible face) and Speed Bridge (topline support that preserves force throughout the club face, for more distance and preserved feel). In addition, SIM MAX OS has larger face than SIM MAX. Making it easier to realize solid impact with more consistency. Overall, you can expect more forgiveness, increased distance and a good feel.

Rating by Luka Karaula [4.9]
Recommendation. For absolute beginners and high handicappers. You can expect maximum comfort, distance, reduced sidespin and forgiveness with this combo set.

Club Technology. [Wilson Staff Launch Pad Golf Irons]
- Hollow Construction with thin face draws the maximum for increased ball speed and longer ball fights.
- Progressive Sole Design features wider sole with longer irons, providing more forgiveness, and game-improvement iron sole with short irons. Overall, the result is less chunking and more distance.

- Extremely Light Weight shaft with hollow light club face generates higher club speed.
Shaft Technology.
- KBS Tour 80 – Steel is the lightest steel shaft in KBS series, weighing 100 grams. It is 20% lighter in comparison to the other similar shafts available on the market. Designed to increase club speed, this shaft causes higher trajectory, higher spin rates and longer distances.
- UST Mamiya Recoil 460 Graphite increases velocity and brings greater distance via Recoil technology. The energy is efficiently transferred from the shaft to the ball by spring effect which channels the energy through the walls of the shaft. Top of the shaft and mid section are stiffer for better shot control while the tip is softer for better feel.
Overview. Head design in combination with KBS Tour 80 shaft makes this set a high launching equipment with increased ball flights. Competing with hollow Cleveland Launcher HB’s, this piece also has hollow construction. CG is effectively placed low and deep behind the face for high launch and increased ball speeds that fly further. These golf clubs are made beginner or settled high handicapper looking for equipment aid. Heightened sole makes the launch higher and actually helps prevent chunk shots.

Best Golf Irons for High Handicap Golfers
Callaway Big Bertha
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.7]
Recommendation. Great for talented beginners who have committed to golf or for high handicappers looking for a long term investment. Very easy to launch the ball. Handicap range: 20 to beginner.
Club Technology. [Callaway Big Bertha Golf Irons]
- Suspended Energy Core suspends the energy in the MIM (Metal Injection Molded) tungsten weighting which is placed in the mould and then filled with urethane microsphere – also found in TaylorMade P series irons. It is incredibly easy to launch the ball, distance is consistent throughout the set, sound is full and compact and feel is enhanced.
- 360 Face Cup increases ball speed by flex-release method which flexes at the point of contact and microseconds after releases the accumulated energy in the ball. The manufacturing procedure utilizes a flexible rim around the entire face which in conjunction with thin face produces amplified flex-release effect, thus increasing ball speed which brings distance necessary for high handicap golfers.
- Modern Design. Minimalist look decorated with smoked PVD finish.
Overview and Thoughts. Big Bertha irons distinguish themselves with low and deep CG that promotes high launch needed by high handicap golfers. The clubs can easily be a good fit for the mid handicap player. In addition, it has a large face making it easy to make contact with the ball. Callaway differentiated 2019 Big Bertha model from the other high handicap golf clubs by using technology also found in competing TaylorMade brand. That makes two brands in the entire market utilizing urethane foam in its product. Urethane is also a sealer material applied to seal decorative concrete and stone. It preserves other materials from excessive heat, cold and moisture.

Callaway EPIC Forged
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.6]
Recommendation. For settled high handicappers, especially seniors who are looking for a quality long term investment. Handicap range: 18 to beginner.
Club Technology. [EPIC Forged Golf Irons]
- Forged Body for soft feel forged from 1025 mild carbon steel which utilizes urethane microspheres. 1025 stands for 25% of carbon in steel. There are more than a million of urethane microspheres in the body that absorb vibration in order to maintain the speed of the club at impact. As a result, impact feels soft and has a fuller more compact sound.
- Suspended Tungsten Core implemented into a forged head, suspends the tungsten weight using urethane microspheres. This allows precise positioning of center of gravity throughout the set.
- 360 Face Cup is a face insert which utilizes a flexible outer rim around the perimeter of the face. It flexes at impact and releases for increased ball speed and consistency with off-center hits.
- VFT Pattern is a Variable Face Thickness method applied for spin control and consistent ball speed through the set.
Shaft Technology.
- Mitsubishi Tensei AV Silver Graphite is a reduced-weight shaft incorporating Aluminum Vapor (AV) Coated Fiber which increases stiffness in the butt section and helps improve energy transfer. It is designed for mid launch and mid spin as a great balanced solution for both high spinning high launching hitters or low spinning low hitting golfers.
- Aerotech Steel Fiber FC (Flight Control) Graphite Iron are shafts utilizing SteepFiber technology with variable tip stiffness for low hitters who are looking for extra height in mid and long irons. The surface is covered with 59 miles of steel fibers.
Grip Technology.
- Golf Pride Tour Velvet Align grip features raised ridge which extends down the back side of the grip, to aid with hand alignment and proper hold. Align Technology locks your hands and makes you more aware of club face. Surface of the grip is non-slip and features moisture pulling from surface of the grip into the creases.
EPIC Forged golf irons are first released in 2019. The clubs are delofted to provide more distance and utilize VFT (Variable Face Thickness) for drop-and-stop landing. 360 Face Cup [face cup explained] is a rim around a inner perimeter of the face which allows for better flexion of the club. For example, 5 iron features only 21° loft while PW 41°. Clearly, this set is designed for beginner high handicappers and senior players.
EPIC Forged are in direct competition with TaylorMade P790 Ti model with price tag and applied technologies. Both are technologically advanced sets of equipment.

Callaway Mavrik MAX
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.5]
Recommendation. For high handicappers with ambitions to evolve. Great innovative technologically advanced club that used AI in production. I suggest you read more.
Club Technology. [Callaway Mavrik MAX Golf Irons]
- Flash Face Cup Technology, in translation, a tech that used a supercomputer AI algorithm to create unique architecture for each golf club. Each face across the set is designed for more accurate spin and significant boost in ball speed, increasing consistency with ball flights, increasing distance and enhancing forgiveness.
- Tungsten Energy Core custom infused weights placed with outstanding precision in each club, strategically located CG for optimal launch, spin, trajectory and landing angles.
- Patented Urethane Microspheres to maximize COR (Coefficient of Restitution), that is, to prevent energy loss of the club as caused by the impact. The absorbed vibration by the urethane translates into increased ball speeds and superior feel.
Shaft Technology.
- Project X Catalyst – Graphite replicates iron shaft properties and brings greater constancy and distance control. Standard graphite shafts are 35% as symmetrical as steel shafts while ISO-6 technology found in Catalyst proves to be 75% as symmetrical, having 100% better results than other graphite shafts. In addition and unlike standard graphite shafts, Catalyst has reinforced tip for better vibrational and torsional absorption which gives enhanced stability and feel during turf interaction.
Grip.
- Same as in Titleist T series grips, Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 standard grips are designed scientifically with comfortable non-slip surface that drags the moisture in the indentations, leaving the grip dry.
Overview and Thoughts. Mavrik is the only series on the market that used AI in its production (Forbes article). The model was released in 2020. In R&D process, every club had its own dedicated Artificial Intelligence algorithm, making this technologically advanced club, resulting with overall better launch, increased forgiveness and great feel. At first they had to learn the AI to recognize the difference between long and short irons, as importance of different metrics changes across the set. For example, important metrics for long irons are ball speed and launch angles, for mid irons spin and speed while for short irons spin and launch angle consistency.
Mavrik Edition Analysis. Mavrik edition comes in place of the old Rogue edition. In comparison to Mavrik classics (for mid handicappers) and Mavrik Pro (for low handicappers), this edition has oversized head with, of course, enlarged face and decreased angles for more distance. Maximum number of available combinations you will find out of all the equipment listed here, there are 12 variations ranging from 6 to 9 club golf set. Furthermore, based on your swing speed, you can choose between three shaft options – if you need help determining which shaft or combination of golf set is for you, email me.

Cobra King SpeedZone
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.6]
Recommendation. For high handicap golfers worshiping quality. SpeedZone is optimized for speed and extra distance and offers feel and forgiveness. Handicap range 18 to 34.
Club Technology. [Cobra King SpeedZone Golf Irons]
- Carbon Topline is a carbon insert placed in the topline. Carbon is 40% lighter than steel. Insert saves 3 grams and thus makes bottom heavier in relation to the top, as a result moves CG lower and increases ball speed.
- Forged PWRSHELL Face is a face insert featuring 35% larger sweet spot area and 8% deeper undercut that enhances ball speed and launch over the entire face.
- Speedback Shape is an enhanced weighting in heel and toe areas which creates lower CG (center of gravity) and higher MOI (moment of inertia) than other traditional club shapes.
- Co-Mold Medallion is a lightweight medallion insert featuring aluminium, TPU material, and acrylic foam that are in combination used to dampen vibrations and produce better sound and feel across the face.
- KBS TOUR 90 is a steel shaft designed for maximum distance and responsive feel. Suggested for players with low trajectories and low spin who are looking for extra height, spin and thus distance.
- UST Recoil 460 ESX graphite shaft is crafted for golfers looking for better shot control. The shaft has a stiffer mid and butt to produce better shot control and a softer tip for improved feel.
Cobra offers a complement product Cobra Connect insert. That is a small insert installed in the tip of the grip. It is used to track statistics and provide useful information such as distance, missed location, GIR, and many other useful features.
This model is significantly delofted, helping beginners to achieve that extra distance. For example, 7 iron has 27.5 degree loft and PW 42.5°. Offset is progressively decreased from longer to shorter irons to provide better impact and turf interaction.
Cobra has an incredible customer support. I reached out with an inquiry about technology so that I can provide better more accurate information. I got a reply within 30 minutes. Not only that they have a good quality equipment, but also well organized team that shares information fast.

Mizuno JPX919 Hot Metal
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.7]
Recommendation. A club for feel oriented players. This set can be played by both mid and high handicap golfers. Although it is recommended to golfers wanting to further improve on their skill set. Handicap range: 15-33.
Club Technology.
- The head is made out of chromium and molybdenum making a Chromoly 4140M technology that causes increased ball speed due to strong yet thin face.
- Seamlessly crafted one piece cupped face offers enhanced feedback, especially with fast swings.
- Re-engineered sound ribs for vibration absorption that produces better feel.
- Stability frame opened at the heel of club head for better stability, soothing vibration that produces better sound and better feel.
Overview. Mizuno clearly does not have the same resources as Titleist and TaylorMade to invest in R&D and utilize technologies such as tungsten weights or ICT technology. All things considered, they made the best feel oriented club with budget available. I played with Mizuno MP33’s and even though those are blade clubs, I loved the feel and ease of shot shaping.
Comparisons. Furthermore, same as with TaylorMade P790’s, this compact set belongs to the category of high handicappers with a desire to improve to mid handicap group. Design reminds of Titleist T300’s with freed heel and filled toe area. When compared to the earlier JPX900 model, the 919 Hot Metal has a wider sole – a characteristic feature of beginners iron – and offers higher ball flights with lower spin rates, as investigated by Martin Hopley at www.golfalot.com. Furthermore, this set is delofted by 2 degrees in longer irons and 1 degree in shorter irons when compared to the more advanced Forged model.
Mizuno JPX919 Hot Metal golf irons are available as a 7 or 8 club set, (5-SW) (4-GW).
The golf set comes either left and right handed with either regular or stiff steel shafts.

Rating by Luka Karaula [4.8]
Recommendation. For experienced high handicap player who is seeking a technologically advanced club with buttery soft feel, extra distance and forgiveness. Handicap range 15-30.
Club Technology. [PXG 0311 XP Gen 3 Golf Irons]
- Impact Reactor Technology driven by DualCOR System enhances face deflection in impact and delivers increased amounts of energy to the golf ball. As a result increasing ball speed and equally so distance while offering great soft feel.
- Inner Core Technology is a deep inner core filled with soft polymer for increased face loading, storage of energy and release of energy to the golf ball. It retains extremely high COR (Coefficient of Restitution) ratio, meaning that the club preserves the speed and retains high amount of energy following the impact.
- Outer Core Technology is a polymer filled core which lies right behind the face and also increases COR ratio. It provides structural stability to support the thinnest face on the market.
- Manufacturing Process. [Step 1] Body is forged five times from a strong 8620 soft carbon steel. [Step 2] Back surface is milled with CNC machine to create thin wall high performing body design not obtainable by typical forging process. [Step 3] Face, only 1.55 mm thick, is the thinnest face on the market. It is made from a high strength HT1770 steel. After the face is finished it is welded by robotic laser to the body, as an effect it provide extra forgiveness. [Step 4] Perimeter weighting technology are systematically installed weights to produce superior launch and enhanced MOI. Each club features nine weights, either lightweight titanium or heavier tungsten. [Step 5] Multi step satin nickel/chrome plating process produces low glare durable finish for non distracting face. [Step 6] Final robotic polishing creates almost flaw-free sole that offers great turf interaction.
XP in the name stands for Xtreme Performance. The Gen 3 series was released in 2020 and received a lot of media attention. Loft is decreased in this set for mid to high handicap players who need more distance. Offset is significantly higher with longer irons while standard with shorter irons. There are two cores in this club. One is deeper in the back while the other one is shallower, touching the inner side of the 1.55 mm thin face. The two are made out of different materials, each providing unique characteristics to the club.
Unlike other manufacturers, PXG presents the entire manufacturing process on their website, making it more personable experience for their potential clientele. The club is manufactured in a six step process, from forging to the weight installment. Overall, 0311 XP is a great technological piece of equipment that uses robotic assistance in manufacturing process.

TaylorMade SIM MAX
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.9]
Recommendation. Mid to high handicapper? Then TaylorMade R&D team made these clubs specially for you. You’ll witness more forgiveness, longer distance, and the feel is compact.
- Increased face flexibility with 17% thinner face in comparison to older predecessor M model, the club produces faster ball speeds and increased forgiveness.
- Speed Pocket technology is an indented line on the sole of the club which disconnects the front portion of the face from the sole, producing a free floating bottom. It generates increased ball speeds and provides forgiveness with thin shots.
Overall. All rounded holistic approach from technological perspective, this club is a top-notch product for mid to high handicappers. A review by a satisfied customer on Amazon confirms the effects of technology on ones golf game. Less sidespin, straighter shot, less resistance in impact.
Club Head Overview. Where does one start, thinner face, Speed Bridge, ICT, ECHO, Speed Pocket. It is easy to conclude that TaylorMade placed a lot of effort in development of SIM MAX. If you think about it, to implement five pieces of technology, someone at TaylorMade had to first conceive an idea which had to be engineered with software, then turned into prototype, tested, and there was probably some trial and error, to finally reach the SIM MAX. Applaudable to say the least.

Titleist T300
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.8]
Recommendation. This club is made for high handicappers with golfing experience who are looking for great feel. Enhanced sweet spot offering better ball compression for more distance. Read more in technology section.
Club Technology. [Titleist T300 Golf Irons]
- As with T200, T300 model Max Impact Tech was developed in cooperation with Titleist golf ball R&D. Small circular weight implant visible in the back of the club face is a unique polymer core for dampening effect and compact precise sound. It ensures equal dispersion of force across the club face and repeatable distance with each golf club.
- Tungsten weight, advantageously positioned for higher handicaps in the toe, gives absolute maximum MOI and increases forgiveness.
Shaft.
- Lightest out of all AMT shafts, set comes with steel regular stock shaft True Temper AMT Red R300. The golf shaft produces high trajectory and high spin. Same as the White and Black AMT (Ascending Mass Technology) shafts, the Red gets progressively heavier – by 3 gram increments – moving from longer to shorter irons. This maximizes speed with longer irons and thus creates more distance, and produces more stability and control with shorter irons, allowing for touch and precision.
Grip.
- Same as Titleist T200 golf irons, grips are stock Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 Standard Grips. Scientifically designed and comfortable state-of-the-art non-slip surface that drags the moisture down in the creases, leaves the grip dry.
Overview. Beginner but yet you want to fancy yourself with the most popular brand in golf? Titleist advertises this golf set as for all golfers, although, better players will stick to the T100 model, average players to T200, leaving this model to high handicap golfers with some playing experience. There are a couple of indicators that this is a mid to high handicap golf set: fuller more forgiving design, decreased loft in mid and long irons, larger club face. All causing larger sweet spot and higher consistency throughout the golf set.
Technology. Instead of T200 model with two tungsten, T300 is more amplified with one large tungsten weight for increased MOI and better vibration absorption, thus increased forgiveness. Sweet spot is large and sends the ball further. Also Max Impact Technology with polymer core is inserted in the back of the club face. Tech all around this club is utilized for maximized performance.
Shaft. AMT Red, purposefully designed for beginners needing that extra height and spin. Ascending Mass Technology sends longer irons further with greater speeds, while giving control with shorter irons.

Rating by Luka Karaula [4.4]
Recommendation. For high handicap golfer with a limited budget. The club has everything a standard golf club should have, especially considering its price tag.
Club Technology. [Tour Edge Hot Launch 4 Golf Irons]
- Expanded Undercut Cavity is a brilliant innovative design on the back side of the club. It moves weight away from the face and into the sole for higher MOI (Moment of Inertia). Observing design, it is a spacious area between the thickened hollow wall and back side of the face. It provides maximum forgiveness and higher ball flights.
- Advanced Toe Weighting is a design tweak that places more weight into the toe for more balanced feel and enhanced stability at impact.
- Variable Face Thickness is a thickened sweet spot zone with gradual decrease in thickness around the core. It offers forgiveness on off center hits.
- Shallow Face Height is made to accommodate deeper CG and improved height.
Shaft technology.
- UST Mamiya For Tour Edge is a lightweight graphite shaft with high torque causing increased trajectory and higher swing speed.
- KBS TOUR 90 is a steel shaft designed for maximum distance and responsive feel. Suggested for players with low trajectories and low spin who are looking for extra height, spin and thus distance.
One of the most affordable golf irons on the market. Despite the price, the production quality and design are to be envied. One of the rare items manufactured with 431 stainless steel – a soft steel for enhanced feel.

Wilson Staff D7
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.4]
Recommendation. For high handicap golfers who prefer simplicity and are looking for affordable solution. Aesthetically pleasing design.
Club Technology and Design. [Wilson Staff D7 Golf Irons]
- Progressive Power Holes are progressively carved indentations on the sole of face for longer distance with longer irons and maximum feel and precision with shorter irons. For example, 7 iron has three rows of power holes, 9 iron two and PW one line.
- Ultra Thin Face is a sensitive and responsive face catapulting ball further and providing better feel.
- Performance Iron Aesthetic is an enhanced design. Straight lines, clean topline and improved weighting gives aesthetically pleasing design.
Overview. Wilson Staff is a Wilson company’s golf equipment brand. Wilson company is widely present in sports and recreation industry – tennis, football, basketball, baseball, golf, to name a few.
Comparison with TaylorMade. They are the only golf manufacturer using a progressive power hole technology. Closest innovation to that one is found in TaylorMade golf clubs with speed pocket technology. Also an indentation that increases ball speed with low hits, although, imo, Speed Pocket tech is slightly more advanced technique of production.

Best Golf Irons for Mid Handicap Golfers
Callaway APEX
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.7]
Recommendation. For mid handicap golfers looking for technologically equipped set. This club enjoys solid feel and compact sound. Handicap range 5-20.
Club Technology. [Callaway APEX Golf Irons]
- Forged Body for soft feel forged from 1025 mild carbon steel which utilizes urethane microspheres. 1025 signifies 25% of carbon in steel. There are more than a million of urethane microspheres in the body that absorb vibration in order to maintain the speed of the club at impact. As a result, impact feels soft and has a fuller sound.
- 360 Face Cup is a face insert which utilizes a flexible outer rim around the perimeter of the face. It flexes at impact and releases for increased ball speed and consistency with off-center hits.
- Tungsten-infused Construction precisely locates the optimal CG in each iron while maintaining the properties of a Face Cup technology, thus producing controlled launch with optimized ball flights.
- Premium Looks crafted for a platinum chrome finish by expert designs.
Shaft Technology.
- True Temper Project X Catalyst 80/60/50 Graphite shaft features ISO-6 material technology which replicates steel properties over 100% better when compared to other graphite shafts. Traditional graphite laminates are 35% as symmetrical as steel while ISO-6 makes the shaft 75% as symmetrical. Model 50 (light flex) and model 60 (regular flex) are shafts producing mid launch while with 80 (stiff flex) one can expect low to mid launch.
- True Temper Elevate 95 Steel utilizes a VSS technology which reduces 71% of unwanted shaft vibrations and in turn produces soft feel. In addition, this lightweight shaft is produced to combat low spinning shots by increasing initial launch and creating more spin.
Each club is treated differently, however, following the same assembly method. Tungsten weights are inserted in the forged head by a MIM (Metal Injection Molding) method. This in turn produces a more forgiving face. If purchasing this set, be aware that it is a good quality set worth the investment, and expect to use them for long period of time.
Very sophisticated combination of 360 face cup technology and tungsten weighting to produce optimal club.

Callaway Mavrik
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.4]
Recommendation. For mid handicap (hdcp 8-24) feel oriented golfers. Great innovative piece of equipment that used AI technology in manufacturing process.
Club Technology. [Callaway Mavrik Golf Irons]
- Flash Face Cup Technology, in translation, a tech that used a supercomputer AI algorithms to create unique architecture for each golf club. Face is designed sophisticatedly across the set for more accurate spin and significant boost in ball speed, increasing consistency with ball flights, increasing distance and enhancing forgiveness.
- True Temper Elevate 95 – Steel is a lightweight feel inducing shaft that reduces 71% of unwanted vibrations. Producing high launch and high spin, the shaft is ideal for players that hit it low and struggle to spin the ball. With such features it maximizes carry distance and produces optimal soft landing that holds more green.
Grip.
- Same as with Titleist T series grips, Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 standard grips are designed scientifically with comfortable non-slip surface that drags the moisture in the indentations, leaving the grip dry.
Suggestions. There are 14 different variations available with this set, so if you’re locked on to this set don’t worry about finding the right combination – there is also a Combo Mix of hybrid and irons. If you are around 10 handicap range there are distance maximizing and feel inducing lightweight regular stiff shafts available for you. And if you are closer to 20 handicap, there is a selection of graphite shafts for consistent feel. Comparing the two shafts and considering you already belong to mid handicap range, I would suggest you go for steel shafts.
Overview and Thoughts. Mavrik edition comes in place of the old Rogue edition. Mavrik is the only series on the market that used AI in its production (Forbes article) and this year they decided to put them into irons too. In R&D process, every club had its own dedicated Artificial Intelligence algorithm, making this technologically advanced club and resulting with overall better launch, increased forgiveness and great feel. At first they had to learn the AI to recognize the difference between long and short irons, as importance of different metrics changes across the set. For example, important metrics for long irons are ball speed and launch angles, for mid irons spin and speed while for short irons spin and launch angle consistency.

Cobra King F9 SpeedBack
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.6]
Recommendation. Market leader by innovative features, this club is for golfers who need equipment aid (trajectory, distance, forgiveness) and are settled with their mid handicap.
Club Technology. [Cobra King F9 Golf Irons]
- Speedback Design is a design tweak on the sole of the club. Cobra engineered an extra belt of steel low and around the conventional sole to create a lower and deeper center of gravity that maximizes ball speed, increases launch and provides longer carry.
- Forged E9 PWRSHELL Face is a 1.8 millimeter thin face insert that features 35% larger sweet spot for increased distance and forgiveness when hit off-center. A forged design also features 1.2 mm Speed Channel located on inner side of the forged face that transfers energy to the ball for higher launch and faster ball speed.
- 33 grams of Tungsten Weights positioned in the toe and heel of 4-7 irons for improved MOI (Moment of Inertia) [Youtube video explainer] which stabilizes the club head at impact. It also increases ball speed and distance and provides forgiveness.
- A 3-piece Medallion is a insertion inserted in the back that features aluminium, TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane), and acrylic foam. The purpose of this multi material lightweight insert is to dampen vibrations for softer and more responsive feel.
- CNC Machine Milled face and grooves is usually only found in forged player’s irons. The production with CNC machines create nearly perfect face surfaces, lofts and grooves. It is a highly precise method with resulting products deviating only 100’s of an inch.
- Progressive Spin Technology is a CNC milled method of grooves carving. It is used to optimize performance across the set. 4 to 7 irons are carved with V-grooves for additional distance and flight time; 8 to PW utilize U-grooves that feature optimal spin for optimal control and accuracy and GW and SW utilize tightly spaced wedge groves for increased spin and control on the greens.
- KBS TOUR 90 is a lightweight steel shaft designed for maximum distance and responsive feel. Suggested for players with low trajectories and low spin who are looking for extra height, spin and thus distance.
Cobra offers a complement product Cobra Connect insert. That is a small insert installed in the tip of the grip. It is used to track statistics and provide useful information such as distance, missed location, GIR, and many other useful features.
This club is a market leader in game improvement irons with the innovative features that the club utilizes. It competes directly with the highly innovative and appreciated TaylorMade P790 model. One of the many features that Cobra promotes unlike the many other manufacturers on the market, is a progressive spin technology. It is a production method in which grooves are progressively widened and startegically position on the club face. The grooves with longer irons produce less spin for longer longer distances, with mid irons the grooves produce mid spin for optimal flights and with short irons the grooves produce high amounts of spin and control on the greens.
Cobra has an incredible customer support. I reached out with an inquiry about technology so that I can provide better more accurate information. I got a reply within 30 minutes. Not only that they have a good quality equipment, but also well organized team that shares information fast.

Miura CB-301
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.6]
Recommendation. Club with legacy. High quality expensive good which offers unmatched feel. Made for confident mid handicap golfers.
Club Technology. [Miura CB-301 Golf Irons]
- Simple Tour inspired design with thickened bottom lowers CG, offers great feel and increases forgiveness and distance.
- Full forged cavity back design features enlarged sweet spot which offers enhanced control.
- CG is optimized for each club by progressive adjustment of sole and cavity thickness, resulting with higher trajectory and more control.
CB in the name stands for cavity back. The iron is fully forged in a 14 step manufacturing process. Lofts are strong when compared to other irons in the same handicap category.
Feel, as advertised, is soft and the clubs offer playability. Good shots are rewarded with great responsive feel. You will know immediately when hit with sweet spot or off-center.

Miura TC-201
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.3]
Recommendation. Made for mid-handicap golfer with consistent ball striking skills. Feel is rewarding.
Club Technology. [Miura TC-201 Golf Irons]
- Progressive Sole Weighting lowers CG with long irons, thus producing higher ball flights on long shots. With mid irons, CG is positioned slightly higher to produce lower trajectory and better shot control.
- Balanced constant weights in heel and toe absorb vibration with off center hits, thus contributing to forgiveness.
Feel is impeccable when hit on center- the club produces a full “right” sound. Although, when missed even slightly, there is no consistency. When hit off center, distance can vary a full club.
Being a highly priced good, there are clearly more affordable golf irons on the market that also outperform TC-201. Unless you are wonder-struck by Miura, I suggest you keep on looking.

Mizuno JPX919 Forged
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.5]
Recommendation. A well designed club for feel oriented players. For better mid handicappers approaching single digit handicap.
Club Technology. [Mizuno JPX919 Golf Irons]
- Design enhancement – 5 grams are moved from from heel to the toe to improve MOI, bringing stability and control to the shots.
- Added boron steel to the mix to make 30% stronger club face which as effect allows for thinner face that produces higher ball speeds.
- High Density forging tightly compounded grains in the steel located around the sweet spot allowing enhanced feedback. Face milled with CNC machine from the sole up, removed all the excess of material creating deeper CG and consistently increased ball speed.
- Stability Frame is another design enhancement for increased stability, enhanced launch and soft landing approach shots.
Overview. Similarly to Hot Metal edition of JPX series, the Forged edition remains a feel based iron and importantly to note in comparison to competing brands, it does not offer any technological breakthroughs. Although, Mizuno R&D played around with what they have and utilized their budget to the maximum with innovative design tweaks and thoughtful techniques – a touch of boron for increased head strength and a thinner face for increased ball speed. The midsize face offers enlarged forgiveness area needed for that extra dose of confidence amongst developing players.

Ping G410
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.7]
Recommendation. Expect good feel and club adjustability in various turf conditions – due to the increased MOI and strategically positioned weights.
Club Technology. [Ping G410 Golf Irons]
- Enlarged Flexing Zone for more flexion to release the ball with greater speed, higher trajectory and increased distance. As a result, higher ball flights hold the green better.
- Cleaner Look with Higher MOI in comparison to older G400 model. Blade lengths are shorter and club face is positioned closer to the shaft line, making the club more satisfying to the eye. This design tweak features more balanced club face for increased MOI which brings more stability and more forgiveness to the club.
- Toe and Hosel Weighting are weights positioned in bottom of the hosel and in the toe of the club face. As such, the weights are engineered to increase MOI by 8% and to bring balance to the club, featuring more forgiveness and consistency.
- COR-Eye Technology decreases coefficient of restitution and absorbs the vibration at impact. This means that the energy loss at impact is minimal for both the ball and the club. The COR-Eye concept features eye-like-look on the face of the club, with the center being a sweet-spot zone and surrounding radius being increased forgiveness area.
- Co-Molded Cavity Badge is a black badge insert that is inserted in the back. It features co-molded aluminum and elastomer to dampen vibration and deliver better feel and fuller sound. The hydropearl 2.0 finish provides smoother transition with the turf and better contact which brings versatility in all lies.
G410 features weaker lofts, 10% less offset and shorter blade length than its predecessor G400. As such, it is more appealing to the eye and has better performance, specifically, greater forgiveness and better impact as club is closer in line with the leading edge of the hosel. In addition, landing angle is couple of degrees steeper than with the older model, resulting with more balls on the green.

PXG 0311 P Gen 3
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.6]
Recommendation. For mid handicap player looking for forgiveness and top notch playability. Highly sophisticated set of clubs. Handicap range 9-22.
Club Technology. [PXG 0311 P Gen 3 Golf Irons]
P in the name stands for Players, as in Players club.
Overall, 0311 P is a great technological piece of equipment that uses robotic assistance in manufacturing process.

Srixon Z785
Recommendation. For mid handicapper who have recently lowered their handicap below 20 or for established golfers who constantly shoot around 80-85. Good turf interaction.
Club Technology. [Srixon Z785 Golf Irons]
- Tour V.T. Sole is a V shaped sole with elevated trailing edge and sharper leaning edge of the club for more consistency and better impact in all lies.
- Tour Cavity is a thickened section in the mid back section, directly behind the sweet spot providing better feel and allowing better ball workability.
- Forged Construction from a single billet of 1020 carbon steel offers less vibration and improved feel.
- Laser Milled face carved out with a laser. Resulting with sticky shots out of all lies and thus increased consistency.
Shaft Technology.
- Nippon Modus 3 105 is a steel shaft made lighter for increased club head speed and thus longer distance. This shaft offers mid spin and mid trajectory, great for golfers who are seeking a solution to either too high or too low shots.
- Nippon Modus 3 120 is a steel shaft made with stiff tip for lower spin and softer mid section for balanced trajectory. Lower spin gives the ball more penetrating flight and is great if you are looking for more distance.
Same as with Z585 model, Srixon has adjusted CG and MOI with a simple design tweak. They repositioned more weight towards the toe and have made the back thicker. Shifting weight to the toe improves moment of inertia while fatter design moves center of gravity lower and more to the back, overall producing higher launch and providing better feel. This, new, Z series model offers a bit less spin and thus increased distance when compared to the older Z765 model.
The set is commonly combined as a mix of Z585 and Z785 models for higher spectrum of mid handicap players, or Z785 and Z-Forged for spectrum closer to single digit handicap.

TaylorMade P760
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.7]
Recommendation. Crafted for a good mid handicap golfer with plans to reach low handicap. If you lean towards Tour clubs but still wants to utilize some assisting technology found in the beginners clubs, this is the choice.
Club Technology. [TaylorMade P760 Golf Irons]
- This progressive set is a combination of 1025 steel forged irons (8-PW) and
- irons injected with Speedfoam Technology (3-7) also found in P790 models. Shorter irons offer enhanced feel for precision shots while longer irons provide increased ball speed, forgiveness and accuracy and ability to shape shots easily.
Shaft Technology.
- Dynamic Golf 120 is a lighter tour-caliber shaft that offers low launch and low spin. Torque is low for bend in lower section of the shaft.
Overview. Step up for more independent players, TaylorMade P760 are a combination of forged tour club (like a P730 model) and technology found in beginners P790 Ti and P790 models. The clubs in this model are slightly delofted than standard irons for lower trajectory and increased distance. However, P790 model has on average 2.5° lesser loft throughout the set when compared to the P790 model, with higher difference in long irons.

TaylorMade P790
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.9]
Recommendation. Affordably manufactured for mid handicap golfers who are set with their handicap group and are looking for a long term investment. Technology is great, maximizes distance and forgives mishits.
Club Technology. [TaylorMade P790 Golf Irons]
- There is a five part technology in this club head. The forged club is inserted with a low profile tungsten weighting that lowers CG and launches the ball higher.
- The 7% thinner club face than the older model is locked in the front of the forged face. There are two sides to this club face.
- Front is made as precision milled face for enhanced ball control while back with ICT (Inverted Cone Technology) that equalizes the sweet spot across the entire face and improves accuracy by lowering sidespin.
- Enclosed club head is filled with ultralight urethane Speedfoam for vibration absorption and enhanced feel.
- 15 mm indentation at the sole of the face is a Speed Pocket Technology that creates a free floating bottom of the face for increased ball speed and forgiveness (unchanged distance) with below-center hits.
Shaft Technology.
- Two stock options are available, steel and graphite. Steel True Temper Dynamic Gold 105 VSS with low torque (avg. 2.0) for mid-low launch and spin. This shaft is a successful lightweight tour-performing shaft.
- And graphite Recoil 760 and 780 ES SMACWRAP® shafts for mid launch and spin. Recoil effect has a balanced spring effect in the walls within the shaft which transfer the energy flow to the ball, bringing more distance. ES stands for enhanced stability: stiffer mid section, looser tip and lower torque bring better shot control, feel and lower shot dispersion. SMACWRAP has a similar effect to the TaylorMade’s ECHO Damping System found in the SIM MAX and SIM MAX OS models. It’s viscoelastic material soothes the vibrations, having a damping effect.
Overview. Much more affordable than the luxurious titanium P790 Ti set. Although materials differ, technology in this P series set remains the same. Manufactured for established mid handicap golfers. This set has higher loft throughout the set when compared to the titanium counterpart. The model has improved the design in 2019. The topline is thinner, club is shinny and ‘logo + company name’ in 2017 model were replaced only by the logo. Furthermore, the club face is 7% thinner giving more flexibility and increased ball speed. Sophie Walker from www.golfalot.com claims that 7 iron 2019 model gave her 6 more yards than the 2017 model. She also investigated long irons on the course and reported that clubs forgive off-center hits, thus maintaining distance.
Technology. It is fascinating how this club is made. (Step 1) First they forge the head, (Step 2) then they insert tungsten weight, (Step 3) close the front with next gen inverted cone technology – same that Titleist uses – rounded club face that extends in the sole, and finally, (Step 4) they fill the head with ultra-light uretane speedfoam. They also leave the crease in the sole of the club for what is called a Speed Pocket Technology. Open tech tab to read how each of these affects your game.

TaylorMade P790 Ti
Rating by Luka Karaula [5.0]
Recommendation. Much to be said about P790 Ti. Luxurious choice for transitioning high handicappers and established mid handicappers. Packed with state-of-the-art TaylorMade technology, the club offers greater distance and increased forgiveness. These clubs are worth having if you plan on getting better. I suggest you read more to get acquainted with this unique set of clubs.
Club Technology. [TaylorMade P790 Ti Golf Irons]
- Titanium made body (9-1-1 Ti) and titanium face (6-4 Ti) form a hollow body that will later be filled with special foam and special weight. Titanium hollow body provides equally dispersed force throughout the face, forgiving mishits and causing explosive distance.
- Up to 117 grams of visible black tungsten weight – considerably more than 90 grams in Titleist T200 – is locked into the back slot of each club, maintaining low spin and causing high launch. Ideal for mid and high handicap golfers.
- The hollow face is injected with urethane foam which is a material also used to seal decorative concrete and stone. The injected foam gives uniform feel in all areas of club face – even missed shots will feel fine.
- Finally, there is Speed Pocket technology. A line indentation at the sole of the club that creates a floating bottom to maintain distance with shots hit below the center.
Shaft Technology.
- The selection is available between Nippon NS Pro 950 GH Neo steel shaft or
- Mitsubishi MMT (Metal Mesh Technology) graphite shaft. Difference is in torque which is projected on launch and spin. Graphite has considerably higher torque (avg. 3.6) having mid launch and mid spin while steel (torque avg. 1.8) produces high launch and spin. Choose based on your ball flight preferences.
Overview. Only titanium made clubs in the P700 Series, the company aims this product at high handicappers who are transitioning to mid handicap range. They marketeer it as, quote, “It’s not an iron, it’s triumph of engineering.” Meaning, all the efforts they’ve invested in club development in the previous four decades, are compounded in this one set. Furthermore, lofts are decreased throughout the set for more distance. Clubs are packed with technology directed to produce higher and faster ball flights. Design is artsy futuristic, made creatively for brave high handicappers. To suit the needs of majority, the set is available with regular or stiff shafts and as graphite or steel.
Recommendation. Although harder to hit due to smaller face in comparison to SIM MAX OS’s, the clubs are on average 0.5″ longer and can easily bring additional 5-10 yards to your shots. If you are high handicap golfer in need of consistency, choose the SIM MAX OS’s. If you are looking for distance and are not afraid of challenge, P790Ti’s are a good choice for you.
Technology. Read technology section.
Shaft Recommendation. If you want to hit the ball further, choose graphite shaft. If you are looking for balance between distance and control, choose steel. For specs and effects, read more in the next tab.
Important Suggestion. Being a high priced good, if you purchase this product, Amazon suggests to make sure that you or someone living with you is present at home at the time of delivery.

Titleist T200
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.6]
Recommendation. Great for mid handicaps who are looking for technological support. This golf club has multiple added benefits engineered in Titleist R&D department. Read more.
Club Head Technology. [Titleist T200 Golf Irons]
- The small circular weight implant visible in the back of the club face is the core of Max Impact technology. In partnership with Titleist golf ball R&D, Titleist developed a unique polymer core for dampening effect and compact sound, ensuring equal dispersion of force across the club face and repeatable distance.
- Most in T series, 90 strategically positioned tungsten grams in both toe and the heel of mid to long irons, maximize MOI (Moment of Inertia) and create solid forgiving impact.
- Club face forged with the sole lowers center of gravity and increases ball speed when hit low on the club face.
Shaft.
- Set comes with steel stiff stock shaft True Temper AMT Black S300, offering mid-high trajectory and spin. Same as AMT (Ascending Mass Technology) White, the shaft gets progressively heavier moving from longer to shorter irons. This allows more club head speed with longer irons and thus more distance, and more stability and control with shorter irons, allowing for touch and precision.
Grips.
- Stock Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 Standard Grips. Scientifically designed and comfortable state-of-the-art non-slip surface that pulls the moisture down in the creases, leaving the grip dry.
Overview & Comparisons. Larger sweet spot, increased MOI and lowered CG, all make this cavity back model a great choice for mid handicap golfer. The model is successor to the famous 718 AP3 model and comes as a 8 piece golf club set. In between the sister T100 and T300 models head size, it also has lesser offset and is thinner in the top line, leaving a blade like design. Titleist also took special care with lofts. T200 and T300 both have on average 3° lesser lofted clubs than T100, thus lowering the ball flight and increasing distance across the set.
Technology. Tungsten weights are carefully positioned in the toe and heel to maximize moment of inertia. Forged face lowers CG and increases ball speed in the lower part of the club face. Max impact tech widens the sweet spot, maximizes ball speed across the club face and permits constant distance moving from club to club.
Shaft. Mid handicapper will easily achieve mid height and mid spin with AMT Black shafts. AMT (Ascending Mass Technology) is an innovative way to increase distance with longer irons and maintains control and feel with shorter irons. Exactly what 12-24 handicappers need.

Wilson Staff D7 Forged
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.4]
Recommendation. Clubs for situated mid handicap golfers looking for extra distance and enhanced feel at impact.
Club Technology. [Wilson Staff D7 Forged Golf Irons]
- Power Hole Technology features 5 double-row strategically positioned urethane filled holes at the sole of the club and on the top line. The holes increase the contact time between the face and the ball thus generating more energy return in impact for greater ball speed and increased distance.
- Power Chamber Technology fills the power holes and chamber located behind the club face thus causing higher vibration absorption levels for better sound and enhanced feel.
- Forged club head with 8620 carbon steel cavity construction for aesthetics, better feel and improved distance.
Shaft Technology.
- KBS $-Taper Lite steel is a lightweight shaft with tour performing feel that offers stability and shot workability. If you are a natural low hitter, this shaft offers a fix for you with its mid-high trajectory and low-mid spin.
- True Temper Catalyst 80 graphite shaft offering mid trajectory and mid spin for both low and high golf ball hitters looking for extra balance in their shots.
Overview. Handicap range: 12-25. Slightly delofted set when compared to industry standard this set offers extra distance to mid handicap golfers who are settled with their handicap level. Club Technology. [Callaway APEX Pro Golf Irons]
APEX Pro is the first Tour performance iron that utilizes enhancing technologies such as Face Cup.
- Tungsten-infused Construction is 50 grams of weights on average, precisely located CG in each iron while maintaining the properties of a Face Cup technology, thus producing controlled launch with optimized ball flights.
- Premium Looks crafted by expert designs for players that can score.
Shaft Technology.
- True Temper Project X Catalyst 100 Graphite shaft features ISO-6 material technology which replicates steel properties over 100% better when compared to other graphite shafts. Traditional graphite laminates are 35% as symmetrical as steel while ISO-6 makes the shaft 75% as symmetrical. The shaft is for high hitters looking to lower their launch angles.
- True Temper Elevate Tour 115 Steel utilizes a VSS technology which reduces 71% of unwanted shaft vibrations and in turn produces soft feel. In addition, this lightweight shaft is produced to combat low spinning shots by increasing initial launch and creating more spin.
The model has low offset across the set for enhanced impact control. APEX Pro is the first tour performing club in which Callaway utilized 360 Face Cup. It is unusual because this is the club that offers distance aid for players that already have distance figured out. It also provides forgiveness. In addition, the club utilizes 50 grams of tungsten weight on average to improve MOI. The weights are placed differently in longer and shorter irons for optimal ball flights. For example, in longer irons, the weight is positioned more in the toe to preserve balance in off hits.

Callaway Mavrik PRO
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.5]
Recommendation. For upper end of low handicappers (5-15)
Club Technology. [Callaway Mavrik PRO Golf Irons]
- Flash Face Cup Technology, in translation, a tech that used a supercomputer AI to create unique architecture in each golf club and thus design sophisticated face across the set for more accurate spin and significant boost in ball speed, increasing consistency with ball flights, increasing distance and enhancing forgiveness.
- Tungsten Energy Core custom infused weights placed with outstanding precision in each club, strategically locating CG for optimal launch, spin, trajectory and landing angles.
- Patented Urethane Microspheres to maximize COR (Coefficient of Restitution), that is, to prevent energy loss of the club as caused by the impact. The absorbed vibration by the urethane translates into increased ball speeds and superior feel.
Shaft Technology.
- True Temper Elevate 95 – Steel shaft is designed to sit in between the Elevate 95 beginner and Elevate Tour advanced shafts. It is designed for players struggling to spin ball by providing high launch and mid-high spin that hold more greens.
- KBS Tour Graphite Iron 90 – Graphite is a shaft designed to feel like steel. It sends the ball lower with less spin when compared to the Elevate 95.
Grip.
- Same as in Titleist T series grips, Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 standard grips are designed scientifically with comfortable non-slip surface that drags the moisture in the indentations, leaving the grip dry.
Mavrik PRO Analysis. Designed for players that can break 80 and are still looking for forgiving clubs. Mavrik PRO model can also be played by higher handicap golfers. The lofts are significantly decreased throughout the set, 2 to 4 degrees when compared to the standard. For example, 3 iron has 19° and PW has 43°, while the market standard is 21° and 47° respectively.

Cobra King Forged Tec
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.5]
Recommendation. An advanced manufactured piece forged and assembled for 0-15 handicap golfers looking for responsive equipment that offers great feel.
Club Technology. [Cobra King Forged Tec Golf Irons]
- PWRSHELL Face is a one piece face insert that is merged with the forged club head. It features expanded sweet spot that offers higher launch and faster ball speeds.
- Hollow Design features a hollow core extending throughout the inner club head – from bottom to the top, and from heel to toe. It lowers center of gravity for maximum control and playability.
- Foam Microspheres infused into the hollow cavity to offer better sound and create softer feel.
- Tungsten Weight insert placed precisely into the forged head, behind the hitting area of the face. It centers the CG and offers increased distance.
- KBS $ Taper Lite is a lightweight tour steel shaft made for players wanting to launch the ball mid to high and produce mid-low spin. If you are a low hitter with a lot of spin, this shaft will help you work your way around.
Forged Tec is a slightly delofted set, on average 2° per club. By quality, this model of golf irons is ranked just below TaylorMade and Titleist models.
Cobra offers a complement product Cobra Connect insert. That is a small insert installed in the tip of the grip. It is used to track statistics and provide useful information such as distance, missed location, GIR, and many other useful features.
Cobra has an incredible customer support. I reached out with an inquiry about technology so that I can provide better more accurate information. I got a reply within 30 minutes. Not only that they have a good quality equipment, but also well organized team that shares information fast.

Miura MB-101
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.6]
Recommendation. Club with legacy. With MB-101, it is all in your hands.
Club Technology. [Miura MB-101 Golf Irons]
- Legacy inspired design with little change as compared to the previous models. Sole and face thickness have been optimized in comparison to the MB-001 model, to allow for enhanced feel and impeccable feedback.
- Sole is thin and designed for skilled players who demand greater control with shot shaping. Turf interaction is stripped naked. What you do is what you get. No forgiveness.
Demanding club. To say the least. Feel, as advertised, is soft and the clubs offer playability. Good shots are rewarded with great responsive feel. However, you will know immediately when hit off-center.

Recommendation. Club with legacy. Great choice if your preferences fall between the blade and muscle back. Feel is great. Looks even moreso.
Club Technology. [Miura MB-101 Golf Irons]
- Shinei Miura’s design focused on ball contact and control. Thought was placed to enhance feel and maximize playability.
Crafted for top golfer, this club offers little forgiveness. MC-501 features wider sole than other muscle back irons. Great looking clubs to have in your bag. One of the most high-end cutting-edge designs on the market.

Mizuno JPX919 Tour
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.4]
Recommendation. Good club that offers stability and feel at impact. Handicap range 2-14.
Club Technology. [Mizuno JPX 919 Golf Irons]
- High density forging with 1025 elite steel that packs the density of steel tightly around the center of the club face, produces a better softer feel.
- Stability Frame that goes around the club and is opened at the heel, provides stability and controlled launch, dispersing vibration throughout the club.
- Tour Grind Top Edge satisfies common grind requests from tour players.
- Pearl Brush finish lessens the reflection of sun rays, providing better user experience.
Overview. Just another Tour iron, I feel like Mizuno has nothing to brag about across the JPX series. No notable technology, minimal innovation and lots of design tweaks that have little effect on final performance. It’s sole is 5% wider than its predecessor JPX900, having better turf interaction with slightly enhanced feedback.
My Experience With Mizuno’s. Having played for many years with Mizuno MP33 blades, I think it is a solid club made for feel oriented players like myself. Although, no features with which product differentiates from competition, I have to admit, it has simple and elegant feel to it, of course, when hit with the center of the club face. When hit off-center, the shot is gone as club provides no forgiveness. I presume similar effects can be expected with this JPX919 Tour model as well.

Mizuno MP-20 HMB
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.5]
Recommendation. For players who have just joined the low handicap group and are looking for aiding performance club that will evolve them further.
Club Technology. [Mizuno MP-20 HMB Golf Irons]
- Manufactured in Hiroshima, Japan, multiple layer of Grain Flow Forged Chromoly in 2-8 irons face and neck are strategically implemented to bring enhanced feeling thru the club face.
- 1025E Pure Select mild carbon steel, plaited with soft copper and nickel chrome – layered the way they made the original TN87 blade – increases workability with short irons and adds softness.
- Twin tungsten weights (12 grams) placed in 2-7 irons deliver greater stability and improved launch.
- HMB – Hybrid Muscle Back with wider sole for better turf interaction. The proportions, topline and offset all match the classic muscle back model specs, creating an improved design which has some added benefits to ones shot shaping capabilities. Clubs are brushed with satin finish, leaving glare.
Overview. Following the line of JPX series, Mizuno maintains the image of a company that produces clubs for feel oriented golfers. Several tweaks turn this club into responsive tool offering instant unbiased feedback.
My Experience With Mizuno’s. My blades, Mizuno MP33’s, are old school blades which I still own after 7 seasons of active high level playing experience – collegiate golf, European and World Amateur Team Championships, national championships in CEE region and other. It makes sense that the feedback I was getting all those years matches the today’s Mizuno propaganda. The club has great feel. It’s sweet spot is small but rewarding while mishits remain mishits. The club ingrained consistency to my golf swing but after several seasons it would have been wiser to pick a more forgiving club that would have saved me lots of shots throughout the years.

PXG 0311 T Gen 3
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.7]
Recommendation. For highly skilled player in need of a dose of forgiveness, extra yards and steeper landing. Highly sophisticated production. Handicap range 0-12.
Club Technology. [PXG 0311 T Gen 3 Golf Irons]
T in the name stands for Tour.
Overall, 0311 P is a great technological piece of equipment that uses robotic assistance in manufacturing process.

TaylorMade P7TW
Rating by Luka Karaula [5.0]
Recommendation. If your aspirations are to be like TW, why not use the same clubs as he does. Made for skilled players that can produce variety of shots and consistently hit it with a sweet spot.
Technology & Design. [TaylorMade P7TW Golf Irons]
- There are a couple of design enhancements made to suit Tigers preferences. Topline is thinner, face of the blade is longer and height of the club is progresivelly increased, giving the club professional looks.
- Milled Grind sole of the club provides precision in impact and consistency in turf interaction.
- Tungsten weight is precisely installed in the back for improved trajectory control and enhanced feel.
Overall. Crafted in direct collaboration with Mr. Woods, and thus designed to suit Tigers eye, this is an ultimate choice for elite golfers with dreams of teeing it up on Tour. Price tag is up there, but for beautifully engineered set, it is definitely justified. These are the only blades on the market with tungsten weight.

Titleist 620CB
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.6]
Recommendation. Made for low handicappers, although mid handicaps who are looking for a challenge can also benefit. This cavity back is a widely popular classic, adored amongst college golfers and Tour players.
Club Technology. [Titleist 620 CB Golf Irons]
- With tungsten weights co-forged into toe and heal in only 3 and 4 irons, this provides increased forgiveness with these two clubs. Since all other golf clubs are made without weights and CG moved higher up the face, it is expected to witness lower ball flights with mid irons.
Shaft Technology.
- Project X LZ 6.0 is a Titleist stock shaft weighing 120 grams. It utilizes a Loading Zone Technology which collects the energy in the downswing – mostly in the mid section of the shaft – for more energy release through the ball. The technology is also visible in design in gradual tapered sections from the grip down to the mid section of the shaft.
Overall. Titleist 620 CB are best utilized by low to mid handicaps players. Made as a cavity back, it offers some forgiveness to players who need that dose of additional trust in equipment. I would benefit from these clubs. I like to put a dose of trust in my equipment and lean on the small dose of forgiveness the club has to offer. My reasoning is purely statistical. In a 72 hole tournament there are roughly 290 shots. Good quality forgiving golf equipment can save anywhere from 2 to 5 shots.
Club Head. Players with mid handicaps can utilize CB in relation to MB blade model and generate faster ball speed with longer carry. CB as a cavity back is more forgiving than muscle back MB model and generally, higher handicaps will manage to get more out of CB’s. Another perk is reduced offset, giving a better squarer more approachable feel at address.
Shaft. Project X LZ 6.0 Shaft is actually in the heavier-mid range of other stock options offered by Titleist. It weighs 120 grams and as such is in the stiff range. With 6.0 you will hit the ball with lower spin and lower trajectory, as compared to the lighter golf shaft variants, i.e. 5.5 and 5.0.

Titleist 620MB
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.8]
Recommendation. Made for a confident scratch golfer.
Club Technology. [Titleist 620 MB Golf Irons]
- A classic blade with more slightly more weight positioned at the toe, allowing for better club face control and more compact feel at impact. Club face is smaller than that of CB model, although quite rewarding if consistently hit with the middle of the club face.
Shaft Technology.
- MB’s also come with a Titleist stock Project X LZ 6.0 golf shaft. It utilizes a Loading Zone Technology which collects the energy in the downswing – mostly in the mid section of the shaft – for more energy release through the ball. The technology is also visible in design in gradual tapered sections from the grip down to the mid section of the shaft.
Overall. A market role model amongst blades, Titleist 620 MB’s are made for scratch golfers. MB is a step up in relation to CB’s, offers no forgiveness but has a great feel when hit with a sweet spot. Tour players and players with low handicaps that are shot shapers are perfect candidates for these golf clubs.
Club Head. Made as muscle backs, they are the ultimate club selection for personable performance. You can expect instant feedback and can mold the shots easily with tour-refined sole.
Shaft. The shafts come the same as in CB model. Project X LZ 6.0 Shaft is in the heavier-mid range of other stock options offered by Titleist. With 120 gram 6.0 you will hit the ball with lower spin and lower trajectory. The shaft utilizes an energy accumulation tech and no bend at the tip, making it easy to control both spin and trajectory by swing tweaks.

Recommendation. A hi-tech solid golf irons dedicated to low handicappers who are still looking for forgiveness in a golf club. This set comes with AMT White shafts, perfect for wet conditions. All in all, if blades are too bold for you, this golf set is made for you.
Club Technology. [Titleist T100 Golf Irons]
- Club face is fully forged, bringing controllable solid strike in each golf shot.
- Clubs utilize high-quality high-density tungsten weights in toe and heel of mid and long irons, thus creating evenly balanced CG (Center of Gravity). This means that club face absorbs the force evenly, ensuring accurate ball flight and solid feel at impact.
- The club has been tested by PRO’s. Reportedly, clean shaped sole moves effortlessly through the turf.
Shaft Technology.
- Available with Steel Stock Shaft True Temper AMT White S300. The AMT White shaft features low trajectory and low spin. AMT (Ascending Mass Technology) shafts get progressively heavier from longer to shorter shafts. This allows more club head speed with longer irons and thus more distance, and more stability and control with shorter irons, allowing for touch and precision.
Overview. A Titleist 718 AP2 twin, Titleist T100 are the first in the T series. As such, with smallest club faces in the series, and less offset, these golf irons are dedicated to lower handicap golfers. The top line of the golf iron is made thinner than in the twin model and there is enough bounce on the sole, although, that is barely felt, thus still providing good solid feel at impact. Ultimately, T100’s are a step up from the blades, made for tour players that are looking for forgiveness in a golf club.
Technology. The two forged tungsten weights, strategically placed in both toe and a heel naturally provide balanced MOI (Moment of Inertia). In translation, this means better feel, more control in impact and better solidness of contact.
Shaft. AMT White shafts are made for players who are more comfortable with hitting the ball lower and with lower spin. Thus, this AMT shaft is made for wet conditions as the lower spin sends the ball further. So if you are from Northern America, Canada or UK, or you golf in a wet environment, this is a way to go.

Wilson Staff Model Blades
Rating by Luka Karaula [4.9]
Recommendation. For long and precise sweet-spot hitters who look for feel and feedback & workability when shaping shots.
Club Technology. [Wilson Staff Model Blade Golf Irons]
- The Model Blades were created based on the input of Tour player Brendan Steele.
- Precision Milled club with consistent weighting from iron to iron for great feel. Each line was individually milled to produce greater control and better feel and feedback when shaping shots.
- Fluid Feel Hosel with triple-knurled design which eliminates unnecessary weight in the hosel allows for larger club head and wider sole for boosted playability.
- Diamond Scoreline Pattern is a pattern just outside of the beginning and the end of scoreline on the face. Taken from Wilson Staff design archive and implemented for optimal looks.
- Optimized Sole Chamber features a slightly more rounded sole, for improved turf interaction resulting with more consistency.
Overview. One would think that Wilson Staff are cheap clubs. Well, be surprised because these forged blades with minimalistic and state-of-the-art simplistic design are in close competition with other blades on the market. This model actually follows the same development pattern as TaylorMade TW blade model. As TW was developed in cooperation with Tiger Woods, these blades were created based on Brendan Steele’s input. Brendan plays these clubs on Tour. Fun and relevant fact is that Wilson is building up on their blade irons since 1954 when first model was introduced.

How Was This Study Made?
I started by researching the web for all viable sources of information. In the study I have encountered several credible sources of information and I utilized them. Usually, those were the following:

Rating by Luka Karaula Explained
“Rating by Luka Karaula” is a ranking system based on relative performance. When rated, the following categories were taken in consideration: innovation, feel, distance and forgiveness. Products in each handicap group were then rated in relation to one another. More recommendable and overall better products receive a higher star rating while less recommendable respectfully received a lower score. For example, in the “Beginner and Senior” handicap group, TaylorMade SIM MAX OS as a highest rated and overall best performing product has received 4.9 rating, Cobra F-Max Airspeed as a second best has received a 4.7 rating while the lowest ranked Wilson Staff Launch Pad received 4.1 stars. By creating such a ranking system, overall objectivity is ensured.

Hey, although I do not have experience with other solutions you mentioned, I strongly recommend using WordPress. Third of all the websites are made with WordPress, and in my experience, I find it very customizable and resourceful, to say the least. There are countless plugins and solutions, and best of all, tutorials and how-to’s. I use Astra Theme and Elementor PRO. If you are looking for a custom solution, Elementor is a way to go – with free version you can design the site while paid version has customizable blog widget. Hope this helps.
